74th Araw ng Dabaw Meetup | March 16, 2011

Okay, the photos with the anecdote were a day late, but here it is!

March 16. The 74th year Davao is celebrating its founding as a city since 1936.

It was a bit rainy in downtown Davao that time, and inside the venue (Gaisano Mall of Davao, locally known as G-Mall) along J.P. Laurel Avenue was jam-packed with the Davaoeños who would want to see celebrities live on stage (which by that time was GMA Network, like Elmo Magalona and others).

I arrived at 3:02pm at the rooftop of the parking building adjacent to the main mall (Al Fresco should it be, but since the construction of the latter wasn’t done yet). After 10 minutes, we are still 5 in the place, but we decided rather to stay inside the mall to wait for them to pass by us. By means of free communication lines such as of Facebook Zero and mobile communications, I was able to inform the others who were coming at that time that we are waiting for them in the foodcourt.

We had a group introduction of ourselves with me as the buena mano of the segment. After everyone had introduced themselves, I discussed to them what the group is about, and what are the upcoming plans. After, we agreed to go back to the rooftop to have photos of the group. As we went out, the guard blocked our way out to avoid the construction to be delayed or disturbed. But since we were very excited, we used the 3rd floor passage, went up the stairway and reached the rooftop, without the guard calling our attention.

At the rooftop was the first photo sessions of the group.

And after having photos at the rooftop, we then went down the mall to say goodbye to the people going home early due to school things for the next day.

Like what we did on the other meetup (not the October 23, 2010 meetup), we headed out to Rizal Street, a haven for those in hype for singing. We got there, and had a deal with the remaining people to the person that would have the lowest score would pay the rate of the KTV (but that was a joke). During the session came to catch up Ace (imsuperace), Ariane (arianeized) and Rita (msvillacorta), but Rita just said hello and needs to leave due to other commitments.

After our vocal showdown, we decided to walk a little bit and have dinner in McDonald’s Ilustre branch. Also in this place did Kim (kimbotitoy), Floyd (flooyd) and Jonathan (pixbeincent) joined us.
